My Story

The road I traveled to get to seminary was definitely not alone. Raised in a faithful Catholic family, there were very few times we missed Sunday mass. My mother and father always made it clear that mass was not something that was optional. It was this environment along with the Catholic education I grew up in that really protected my possible vocation to the priesthood. I was your normal, everyday boy growing up interested in the outdoors and sports of all kinds. This continued into high school where I jumped at any opportunity to get involved; I was a multiple sport athlete and I become involved in leadership positions. I was not a man to hide in the crowd. Trinity high school has formed me in ways in ways I know and in some ways I will never know. It was in high school that I became more interested in running and wanted to give much more of my time and energy into being successful.

As I graduated from high school in 2003, I made my move onto college with a running start. I was given the ability to run men’s track & field at Dickinson State University. Seeing success in many areas of my life, there was that restlessness in my heart that was still so mysterious. At the same time, I became more and more interested in my faith and was being greatly affected by the life of a priest. It was the priest’s love for Christ that transformed the way I viewed my own faith. I stayed at Dickinson State for two years before finally answering the call to enter seminary. I entered Saint John Vianney college seminary in the fall of 2005. It was through God’s grace and powerful people in my life, particularly a priest, that I heard His call to follow Him. I praise and thank God for His infinite love. And in a special way, I thank Him for the people in my life that He worked through in profound ways.
